3-19-97 - Hello everybody. Just cooling down here in Hemet, CA. This was not easy as it was 95 (F) today! The hottest day of the year and it's only March. What greenhouse effect, right? I've also developed strep throat. Ugh.

The letters of encouragement and and support keep coming in. Kind words and ideas. I'm sorry if I haven't written back those who've emailed me. We appreciate all you've done to help.

One of the things that we learned from this experience will stay with me always. I should have never contacted Mr Ventuleth when it was clear that he didn't care for Lily. I mean, had it been our Suni, we would have scoured the town non-stop. We would have put our HOME telephone number down on any signs we put up. We would have supplied an accurate description of him for the animal shelter. Unfortunately, by the time I received email suggesting that this man did not seem to give a damn about Lily, it was too late. I should have come to this conclusion myself, but I guess I had my rose colored glasses on.

Never again. I will not trust the authorities. I will not assist the authorities. Earlier this year, it took the police three (3) hours to come to our house one morning, after we had received six (6) shots into our living room. We live two blocks from the police station. I have called reporting taggers, in the act, across the street from me. Many times I have been given not assistance, but a hard time for not having better descriptions. The police come, but too late. Well, this was the final straw. They don't seem to care that they are working for us. What irony! What is it coming to? The criminals on one side, being criminals. The authorities on the other side, doing anything to further their agenda and as little as possible to assist the citizens. This may sound like a load of crap, but it is what I believe. The last time I checked, it was still legal for me to state my personal opinion. I will exercise this right, often, should it be removed! I hope you all do likewise.
