• 3-13-97, 8:00am - Went to the Hemet Police Dept. to get a copy of the log entry for when John Ventuleth called the police on me. I was able to view the log entry, but not get a copy because my name is not on the entry. They just have me listed as "suspect" in stealing Lily. They concluded it was a civil matter. I then asked to see the officers (Officer Del Burdick and Officer D Reinholdt) or the watch commander (Lt Rudy Cabrera). All three happened to be off work today. I then asked to see the next person in command. I spoke with Corporal Brown. He was very nice. I know him from my neighborhood watch activities. I told him the story. He said I am right in bringing a complaint to the PD, but that I should do it when both the officers and their supervisors are in the room with me. He said they would all be in Monday morning. As far as the officers searching me and treating me like a criminal, he said that was standard operating procedure (HA!!) simce they were only going by whatever Mr Ventuleth told them. He gave me the incident number and said I could use that if an attorney needed to supoena a copy of the report..
• 8:30am - Went to the local animal shelter, Ramona Animal Haven in San Jacinto. Spoke with Jan Spann the Executive Director. Related the story to her and the clerk who took the "Lost Dog" call from Mr Ventuleth. They were shocked. They gave me copies of the "Found Card" from when I called in the dog and a copy of the "Lost Card" from when Mr Ventuleth called in the dog, both were dated 3-3-97. The reason that the two didn't connect, is that he told them that the dog did not have cropped ears. Lily does have cropped ears, but it is a bad job. This man doesn't even know the dog! The computer program that the Animal Haven uses matches by criteria and the ears were not a match so... At least I have proof now that I called her in and didn't steal her! The director and the clerk mentioned that they were disturbed by the fact that Mr Ventuleth related to them that the dog was for breeding purposes only. It even says this on the "Lost Card"!!
• - Still receiving many emails, all positive and supportive. Ronna and I are glad to hear that some people are writing and even calling some of the contact people. As a suggestion, the best people to contact at this stage are Mr Ventuleth, the School District (Superintendents, Board Memebers, Principal), the Police, and the City. Although, some of you have called the City and they claim to know nothing about the situation. Wall of denial.
